Wilwood brakes Install

6-Piston Wilwood brakes installation

Along with the IRS and ABS installs the winter upgrades continue with the front and rear brake upgrades. Wilwood 6-piston calipers are going to be used on all 4 corners since the IRS stock brakes (Ford single piston) are not available and are back-ordered everywhere with expected arrival end of March/beginning of April. That timeline does not work and since IRS does not need floating calipers anyway, might as well make a bracket to adapt the Wilwoods to bolt up to the IRS caliper mount. This adds the benefit of having simplified spares and brake pads! Jim @ Factory Five Racing will help me make the bracket necessary.

Front Rotors are a 2-piece design, where the rear rotors are stock mustang. Assembly of fronts require torquing bolts to 155 in-lb, then using safety wire to make sure bolts never back out.

The install went in without any problems. The 9″ wheels and even the 10.5″clear the calipers without any problems. I will use a 1/8″ spacer in the front for good measure as caliper to wheel clearance is only 3/32″ without spacer.
